A lovely hike where you get to experience everything from old-growth spruce and birch forest to spectacular mountain views.
Travel by boat to the start of the Padjelanta Trail, where the route leads through lush spruce and birch forest. After having followed the trail for a while, you leave the main path and head towards Vallebäcken, a deep and impressive ravine.
The ascent then continues towards Kaskaivo, rising to 1.311 meters above sea level, easily recognised by its distinctive profile. Standing at the edge pf its 500-metre cliff is a truly awe-inspiring experience.
The route isn't suitable for inexperienced hikers since the trail is only marked at the beginning of the hike. It is a full-day excursion though high mountains and deep valleys. Kaskaivo can also be reached from Vallevare.
